I haven’t much practice in writing a blog or writing in
general – in my mind, it’s a waste of time and energy for who wants to read
what I have to write anyways….well I guess I figure what the hell, I might has
well get on the bandwagon with others because I do have a lot I can share,
whether funny, profound or in between – watch out world because here I go a
‘rant in’!
So today was cold, especially late in the afternoon –
debating whether to go back out and challenge my sore bones to a Zumba session
or just go out in the backyard and do my at least thrice weekly “Poop Patrol “–
with four basset hounds there is always some to gather.
Which leads me to meditation. I know, how you ask? How do I get meditation
out of “Poop Patrol”? Well it’s
easy. For me “poop” gathering allows me
to meditate. Being a yoga instructor for
the last 16+ years you would think the practice of meditation would come easy,
but it does not. I can speak words if
calmness, talk to you, lull you into a relaxed state so you can, even just for
a few moments, truly let go of all that is in your head. But it doesn’t leave mine!
“Poop Patrol” is my mediation; for if you look at it
realistically you have to be in the moment.
You have to be aware of what is around you, what is below and what is
above. Let me tell you if you are not aware
you will step in “it” and if you only keep your focus on the below you will
find that you really don’t look good as a unicorn. The yard pick-up is a much needed time of
being present, to give myself a break, to allow me to let go.
Meditation doesn’t have to be in a special place, at a
special time, wearing special clothes – meditation can be anywhere you allow it
to be. So maybe my “Poop Patrol”
meditation isn’t for you – just look around and find something that doesn’t
take a lot of thought - that allows you to be in the moment and let your
awareness flow!
Stay-tuned for my next meditation – in another place that
isn’t common!
